Pegasus:

Pegasus can only export to a tab delimited file, and Mail-Block can only import from a comma delimited file, so a conversion is necessary.

  1. Start up Pegasus Mail
  2. Open your address book by clicking the book icon or pressing F3
  3. Click on the book you want to export from
  4. Select all the entries that you want to export;
    • To select them all, click on the first entry, scroll down to the end, and hold down Shift while clicking on the last entry.
  5. Click the Addressbook menu and click Export to tab delimited file.
  6. Select a folder to save your address book to
  7. Rename the file to something you will recognize and click Save

You now have a file containing the contents of your address book in tab-delimited form.

The problem is that Mail-Block only recognizes import files in comma-delimited form, so the file has to be converted. It is easiest to do this with Microsoft Excel, which understands both formats.

  1. Start up Excel and open the text file you have just created; Excel normally only looks for excel files, so you will need to tell it to look for 'all files' before you can see your text file.
  2. Excel should run the text import wizard to read your file. On the first screen choose 'delimited' file type, and tell it to start importing from row 2, because the first row of the file is just a comment line. Click Next.
    • The field delimiter should already be set to tab. Click Next. Click Finish.
  3. Click the File menu and then Save As. Choose save as type CSV (Comma delimited). Accept the given file name or type in a new one. Click Save. Excel will warn you that not all spreadsheet features can be saved to a CSV file, but don't worry, click Yes to go ahead anyway.
  4. Close down Excel; you will be warned that you have not saved the spreadsheet (even though you have just saved it as a CSV file); you can save it now as an ordinary Excel file if you want to.
  5. Log on to Mail-Block, go to the e-mail List Import area, and follow the instructions.
