Daytona Beach, FL –May 13, 2004: Our call center handles inquiries each day, with questions on how to stop junk mail. Our customers are often confused with Challenge and Response type systems.
First let’s review some history, in early 2000 anti virus companies decided to enter the emerging anti-spam market. Marketers could see the ease of sending millions of unsolicited messages, the cost to the sender would be almost nothing and the possibility of results would be great. This issue caused increased traffic on Internet Service networks. Internet Services Providers quickly realized there was no additional revenue coming in. Internet Service Providers quickly worked to block the junk mail traffic.
During this early time there was not the outcry by users to block the junk mail except for a small handful of people that wanted the Internet to remain free of any commerce. This was a nice thought but the simple fact is for any industry to grow it takes money and advertisers are the source of funds to buy equipment and purchase bandwidth. When this avenue became exploited the slow rumble of discontent emerged from the user base. Soon terms like Unsolicited Commercial Bulk e-mail i.e. SPAM started being used and soon the debate over Spam was born.
Mail-Block was born from a simple idea to protect people from unsolicited offers; the technology was created in 1997 and was first made available in the late 90s to a handful of users. Build on what we now call VERGL (Verified Embedded Random Generated Link) the technology provided a way to stop the automated commercial junk mail from reaching the user; in fact VERGL was able to address the increased load imposed on the network servers. No other system is capable of protecting the network at the same time stopping junk mail.
VERGL is not Challenge / Response for a few simple reasons. Challenge / Response is not ADA (American Disability Act) Compliant, VERGL is. Challenge / Response will make the sender solve a puzzle or answer a question or both. Most business users will not respond to such a demand. There has been many imitators who have surfaced in the past couple of years each promising to stop junk mail with Challenge / Response. What we have seen is a rush to cash in on the new market of anti-spam by building nothing more than an auto responder on steroids. As anyone can clearly see there are now hundreds of Challenge / Response solutions but only one VERGL System.
VERGL does not make the user send out throw away e-mail accounts, it does not make you sort through several inboxes to see if your good mail has been missed, it just works and provides the user the ability to focus on more important issues instead of junk mail.
Mail-Block / VERGL servers are designed to be used on servers other than your current e-mail servers. The Mail-Block servers are the first contact, not the mail servers. Most Challenge /Response systems are part of the mail program and are limited to windows only e-mail servers. Most companies do not use windows mail servers instead they use systems based on Linux or other similar operating systems. VERGL does not care what system you are using because it does not reside on the Mail server.
We fully understand the rush to install some type of anti-spam protection but this is clearly a buyer beware market and the corporation or government agency looking to install anti-spam protection should clearly do the homework and see that VERGL built into Mail-Block is the only clear solution. Mail-Block using VERGL provides the ability to be ADA compliant and give the licensee 100% protection, reduced server load and a zero false positive rate, all at the lowest price in the anti-spam industry.
Mail-Block Corporation, the developers of Mail-Block anti-spam system is now becoming the leader in anti-spam software solutions using VERGL technology. The Mail-Block system has been integrated on their ISP platform, 695online.com since February 2002. With the availability of Mail-Block Enterprise Edition in May 2003, companies small and large have been empowered with the ability to stop 100% of Spam, doing so without any false positives.
